Roughhouse Brewing
Roughhouse Brewing opened in 2019 and is on a 50-acre farm in San Marcos. This brewery creates farmhouse ales, traditional lagers, and spontaneous cave-aged beers. Dogs and kids are welcome, and the water for the beer comes from an on-site well for outstanding purity. Try the Honeycrumb farmhouse ale with rye bread and honey or the Subcontinental light lager with jackfruit. The Stonefruit spontaneous cave ale has fresh tart cherries.
Along with beer, you can enjoy two BBQ Pulled Pork tacos with pulled pork, slaw, barbecue sauce, and cilantro. You can also choose a Ham Sammy with ham, American cheese, Swiss cheese, deli mustard, pickles, and sourdough bread. Both options come with corn chips and salsa. After you eat, you can visit the Roughhouse store. It has Roughhouse Brewing stickers, hats, bandanas, shirts, and more. There’s even a baby onesie.

Ivar’s River Pub
Ivar’s River Pub is on the shore of the San Marcos River. It has beautiful scenery, especially during sunset, and is a perfect place to enjoy a drink after fishing, swimming, or tubing in the river. Draft beers available include the following:
- Bud Light.
- Miller Light.
- Coors Light.
- Yuengling Lager.
- Michelob Ultra.
- Dos XX Mexican Lager.
You can also choose a beer flight, a sampler of any four 6-ounce draft beers. Several delicious shots and cocktails are available as well. The Bunny Shot has Watermelon Pucker schnapps, Cruzan vanilla, fresh pineapple juice, and whipped cream. With the Cherry Cheesecake shot, you’ll get Cruzan vanilla rum, cherry grenadine, cranberry juice, and whipped cream.
Ivar’s River Pub is also a great place for a delicious meal. Breakfast is available all day, and the River Pub Breakfast with Texas toast, baked beans, fried eggs, bacon, and smoked sausage is a great choice. Ivar’s Egg Sandwich has a fried egg, Cheddar cheese, and bacon on a toasted brioche bun.
You can choose blackened salmon with green beans, mashed potatoes, and lemon butter garlic sauce for lunch or dinner. With the Seafood Platter, you’ll get fried shrimp, catfish filets, seasoned fries, coleslaw, and cocktail and tartar sauce. For dessert, try the pecan pie bread pudding or the Molten Lava Overload, a slice of lava cake with chocolate sauce, donut holes, ice cream, and whipped cream.

Hours: The kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The bar stays open an hour later.
Patio Dolcetto
Patio Dolcetto is also near the San Marcos River. It offers a variety of craft ciders and beers, including the following:
- Bombshell Blonde ale.
- Flensberger German Pilsner.
- Live Oak.
- Prairie Sour.
- Yellow Rose.
- Hill Country Light.
- Blackberry Cider.
- Honey Cider.

Several cocktails are available as well. The Irish Mocha comes iced or hot and has coffee, Dutch chocolate wine, Irish cream, and whipped cream. You can also add salted caramel. A chocolate martini with Dutch chocolate wine, vanilla soy milk, and an optional shot of espresso is also on the menu. With your drink, try the Dolcetto Pizza with house-made pink sauce, a five-cheese blend, pepperoni, bacon, roasted garlic, jalapenos, and honey drizzle. With the Pear and Bacon Pizza, you’ll get bacon, pear, house-made white sauce, a five-cheese blend, Italian seasoning, red pepper, and honey.
The Bacon Apple Fig Pizza includes house-made white sauce, a five-cheese blend, green apple, bacon, goat cheese, a drizzle of lemon fig balsamic reduction, and roasted garlic. You can also try a small plate with house-made pretzels, hummus with naan and carrot sticks, or a gourmet cheese board with three varieties of cheeses, dried fruits, nuts, green apple slices, olive tapenade, pickles, seasonal jam, and crackers. Visitors must be 21 or older, and Wi-Fi is free.

The North Street Beer Bar
The North Street Beer Bar has a beautiful patio and a relaxing atmosphere. This place has 24 beers on tap, and they rotate frequently. Several craft and specialty cans and bottles are available as well. You can try a different beer every time you visit. The Martin House Paloma has agave, grapefruit, and salt, and the Jester King Le Petit Prince is a farmhouse table beer. You can also enjoy boneless chicken wings with chili sauce or Curry Queso with tortilla chips.
The Chicken 65 curry taco has fried chicken, chili sauce, rice, red cabbage, queso fresco, jalapeño crema, and cilantro. You can also try butter chicken in a creamy tomato sauce or chicken curry with spices, onions, tomato, and tomato-ginger chutney. With the Curry Trio, you can pick chicken curry, saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, paneer tikka masala, or chana masala. They all come with coconut rice. Select the triple chocolate cake with chocolate frosting or a cardamom oatmeal cookie with golden raisins and pistachios for dessert. You can also get a rose water or lavender honey oat milk latte.
